BIT-TECH AT IT AGAIN

LMAO!!

Well here is Bit-Tech of Custom PC Magazine fame, which I stopped liking when they became extremely biased a few years back.

For the first time in bloody ages they mention AMD and a CPU and yet they get their facts wrong?! I guess that is what happenes when you obviously have gobne out of your way to ignore their products?! Lol.

No Bit-Tech, Steamroller is NOT AMD's current core in use, that would be Piliedriver you planks.

Also revealed are details of what the highest-spec chip will be. Kaveri will have up to 4 CPU cores (2 modules) that will be based on the company's existing CPU architecture, Steamroller. It will also feature a GPU composed of 8 GCN 1.1 Compute Units (CUs), making for a Stream Processor (SP) count of 512, or the equivalent of a Radeon HD 7750 desktop card.

What I find rather hilarious about this report is that they have consistently stated that AMD chips are utter pants! So this report strongly insinuates that this new chip will be pants too?!

Hmm a bit odd that!

AMD CONFERENCE KAVERI NEWS

Well I have been waiting for the new generation of AMD APUs and CPUs, if there are any of the latter, based on the Steamroller Cores and HUMA design.

We are very close now to a launch and there are very differing rumours floating about none of which really matter due to it now being weeks away at most. Some state that shipment is already ongoing while others state it starts in December.

I have been waiting for the AMD Developer's Conference as a number of announcements were due to be made with the date flying about the Internet being the 11th November 2013 for all the announcements and that we will find out all on this date. Then I realized that the conference was actually over THREE DAYS, 11th to the 13th November, and thought 'well there we go yet again with people making statements as if they were fact when they are not'.

It is currently 18.43 so the evening of the 12th November 2013 and there is very little about other than a few announcements that have emerged from the conference.

"Specifically, desktop availability will take place on January 14, executives said at AMD’s APU13 conferences on Monday. Chips for notebooks, servers, and embedded systems will follow later in the year", executives said.
That above quote is from the following link...

AMD's next-gen Kaveri chip due in January | PCWorld:

Another thing being reported on some sites is that on January 14th 2014 the 'DESKTOP, version of AMD APU with steamroller cores codenamed Kaveri will be launched with laptops and notebooks being launched later in the year?!

Sorry but this is a little off sounding to me. AMD APUs normally get launched in laptops FIRST and desktops LATER! Should this happen the other way around it will be the first time I am aware of that this was done that way around.

Also my local PC World/Currys Megastore has spent a few days VERY recently changing all their displays and shunting many laptops off onto older shelving and left a load of spaces. The new stands have a mahogany like look about them and look rather dapper. Fancy in other words, lol.

It drives me insane when I walk by and I hear the sales people trying to sell a laptop or notebook with an Intel Core i3 in it and I feel like walking over and saying "don't, just don't!", lmao.

There are also some mad claims about the Internet too and some have been lambasted for them. But I do find it annoying when someone claims that there will be a 30 or 40 percent increase in performance and armchair experts claim that this is not possible!! Grr, you cannot say that! Not likely would be more accurate but there are so many things being implemented in this chip that you cannot say that. Unless you know more than the designers do of course, lol.

Put basically there is a new core for starters and this time has a floating point unit to itself for the first time. It is on a smaller lithography, which may help it run cooler and clock higher. Then there is the HUMA aspect of the chip. No one really knows anything about these combined things but quick to come online and state what it will or wont do, lol.

As for the many core versions of 6 or 8 I have read nothing. Yes there are many stating that there will not be any more, FX Chips, but I don't know. It would seem strange to have a 4 core then 6 then move up to 8 and then back to 4 again. PLus because of all the hype before release previously and if I was AMD I would not want to repeat that. I would keep any CPU only chips under wraps until just before launch. Though this would be a liuttle unfair to those who bought AM3+ motherboards hoping to upgrade to Steamroller.

Me personally maybe think there will be a 6 core Steamroller FX. What I would like to see is a 6 core APU!! Now if they did this with a higher number or graphics cores than the 4 cores then I think that would be one nice chip. Unless of course Steamroller ends up slower than Piledriver which I very much doubt, lol. Besides all this there is also Valve's Steam OS. BE interesting to see what gets announced with that, now that they know that the consoles have gone AMD APU. Maybe a STEAM OS PC will ran like the proverbial Gazelle?! Here is hoping!

AMD WITH HUMA, ARE SMALLER AND FLOATS

More and more that I see, read and hear about about AMD's upcoming APUs and CPUs based on both Steamroller and Jaguar leads me to believe it is comeback time for AMD.

These are based on three simple things...

1) No shared Floating Point Unit

2) Die Shrink meaning less power consumption and higher frequencies (though the latter is but always the case)

3) Memory sharing of the same pool which reduced editing time and speeds things up, known as hUMA (Heterogenous Unified Memory Access at a wild guess lol)

Plus there will no doubt be others mainly little refinements and improvements. An example of this is the Resonant Clock Mesh which wad only introduced with the last set! This of more likely to be in got refinement that anything else.

Hopefully some other technologies will be moved on chip that are late to the table, admittedly lol.

Certain fanboys will live stating that they did out to save money our out was the cheap option. But they are deluded.

I had long thought that the PC's hardware was not being optimized that much for one thing.

For another the PS3 and XBOX 360 have been out like 6 or 7 years now. We still have 6 months before we see the Sony PS4 and the XBOX ONE on the shelves and I seriously doubt that after all these years that the next gen consoles will only seem few years ahead of the last two?!

I would put alot of money on it! Especially with this global financial crisis they sure will aware that they need a bloody big WOW FACTOR and I cannot readout to see ask of these wow factors being scrutinised by all!

Still have a bit of a wait, yes. But around end of August to mid September you can bet that the screen shots to the titles coming on both platforms will start to surface with new graphics bring explained?! They might even drop a free hints regarding the technologies used?!

Oh I hope so, lol.

AMD FX 9000 SERIES & NAYSAYERS PREACH FROM THEIR ARMCHAIRS

Well they are at it again!

AMD, Advance Micro Devices, released a Road Map for their Server CPUs and because there was not Steamroller based Opteron they start whining there will be no Steamroller FX CPU too?!

How in the hell did you all come to THAT conclusion?!

You DID note that there was an ARM based Server Chip?! I would have thought this would have been self-explanatory?! No steamroller Opteron but an ARM Opteron and by your logic the next AMD FX chip then will be ARM based too?!

*shakes head*

Now on another note there is this talk of a couple of AMD FX-9000 Series CPUs and THIS I find extraordinary!

There is a AMD FX-9650 and an AMD FX-9350 so the 8 moniker seems to be being skipped and there is this crazy talk of a 230 Watt power consumption?! My word I cannot see how that can stay cold?! I am currently using an extremely crap HP Pavilion DV7 with a Phenom X3 and to my utter disgust it gets a bit hot playing games, or just running Ubuntu which is worse and now twice under different versions of Ubuntu, 12.04 LTS & 13.10, my laptop has shut down twice due to overheating and this was while doing nothing and on the desktop screen?!

I cannot see the power consumption being that but I would keep them away from laptops if they are, especially laptops running Ubuntu and I strongly urge other Linux flavours, like Mint, for your Linux fix.

http://amdfx.blogspot.ca/2013/05/amd-steamroller-fx-9650-45-ghz-48-ghz.html

The link above has an interesting read but though I have come across his blog before I am not sure how many things they get right. Might be like that other wally then likes to promote Intel while overly bashing AMD that makes himself look very obvious, lol.

Speaking of which if you look at the comments on this link you will see a chap called jml12 who...well sounds like he IS 12 and comes out with the most childish rants towards AMD. Now I would normally wager he gets free i7 CPUs sent to him by Intel, oh that would have to be a motherboard TOO then lol, for each month he rants but...well it is too childish to make a blind bit of difference,

Maybe his dad has shares in Intel because he certainly is not old enough to?! LMAO!

His rants really are funny at times but I guess not for the other people commenting. Also the wally keeps banging on about power consumption and says that is what is important to him and everyone else and why AMD will die.

Well he fails to take into account TWO considerations and that is wherever he pops up, and he pops up all over the place. he is in a minority of one so if there are ten people commenting that is ten percent. More than ten people then it will be less that ten percent and if they are commenting on AMD's chips then he has got his figures wrong.

He has also completely FAILED to take into account the people that now have huge solar panels on the roofs of their homes, the moron. Might be costly but power is free, dumb-arse!

I see enough solar panels now with more appearing now and then and even a farm that is cycling distance from me has a solar panel mounted in a field that must be 30 feet by 10 feet?!

Also hilarious is a comment by John Doeson who rather cleverly used jml12's own logic against him while attacking Intel and then states that we need BOTH companies, very true as I stated before, or we will be ripped off.

This idiot really does fail to smell the coffee as if he loves his Intel Haswell chips so much if AMD do step up over the next 6 months this chap will find that the most expensive Intel chips will be halved in price and I am sure he will be over the moon to have that occur?!

Hmm now I am looking for the details on the chips again, as I have forgotten one of them, possibly two, I have now read different model numbers for them...

AMD FX-9590
AMD FX-9370

Hmm and this site states 4.3 stock clock for the 9370 and 4.7 for the 9590?! I thought I had read somewhere that one was going to be 5.0GHz?!

It also states 8 cores for both and based on Piledriver cores but the power consumption and very high prices quoted do not tally up with this?! Price quoted at $500 to $1000 seems to strongly suggest a couple of very fast CPUs?!

Therefore something else must be coming into play here?! The 9 moniker, the power consumption and the price suggest a big leap in performance because no one would buy these otherwise!

SO what are the possibilities?

1) When released it will actually turn out to be Steamroller?! Though at those power levels SteamEngine might be more apt?!

2) A DIE SHRINK?! FINALLY?!

3) More cores? Possibly a 5 module and ten core set up?!

I really cannot see how they can achieve what is flying around the Internet like a Pterodactyl on drugs without ONE or any combination of the above in all honesty. It would explain the TRINITY, OK bad joke, of facts flying about and cost/moniker/price?!

Hmm if they do release this 9 moniker chip maybe the bigger jump in performance to steamroller proper in 2014 will warrant a new name?! Like AMD FXX?!

Will be very interesting and if this is some kind of stepping stone gap filler to the main release in 2014 it should just keep us inquisitive types entertained enough until the main event?!

Christ! I might even BUY one?! But these blogs would have to start being productive for me by the time they come out otherwise I will be constantly avoiding sites with details to avoid repeatedly wiping dribble off my keyboard?!

LMAO.

Roll on the good (or just interesting) times!
