THE ONE EIGHTY DEGREE TURN

Intel has a long history of deliberate over pricing, anti-trust along with anti-competetive behaviour. I have noted that they have reached such a size that they do not really worry about breaking any laws. They always look for other ways to gain an advantage even though they have had a huge one for quite sometime now.

A couple of years back I was quite interested in AMD's new APUs like their first one of Llano. I intended to get a laptop with one in bit ended up getting something else. A little time later I remember visiting retails stores expecting over half the stock to be powered by AMD's APUs with just one or two GPUs. It never quite happened.

Instead what did curiously happen was something that did not make sense to me and that was the talk of Ultrabooks. These things looked very svelte in all honesty but if I wanted that I would go with an Apple (ugh). They were also graphically underpowered and had the first solid state disk drives has opposed to the spinning hard drives. Only these were mostly 128BGB and were not even enough to store what I had on my current laptop!

Before long every store I walked into was awash with these Ultrabooks?! AMD based laptops did not amount to half the number of Ultrabooks on offer. Then there were the All-In-One PCs that mostly had Intel Core i3 CPUs in them?! I lost count of the number I walked straight by because they had Intel's i3 and i5 and very few AMD APUs?!

I also never saw anyone actually seriously looking at them and I did fancy a Lenovo model that did have an APU because it did look good. But I did not. I thought at the time how mad it was and simply could not understand how these manufacturers thought for one moment that people were going to buy them. Not anyone that understood their hardware, that is for sure. Yet they were slightly over-priced too and everywhere.

After all this time I now see this report with the link provided below that states that Acer got into troubles and they blame it on the Ultrabooks?

What you mean that not everyone thinks that Intel CPUs on their own are all that?! Even in slim and sexy metal chassis with nice keyboards?! Should not believe all the forums you read on the Internet, nor Intel for that matter.

The funny part about all this is that Intel's own questionable behaviour may well be coming back to bite them in the arse?! Ultrabooks making everyone a little touchy and wary and with AMD chips going inside the consoles and not the talk about Kaveri and its four different approaches to gaining speed on Intel.

Should be an interesting year for sure.

HARDWARE JOURNALISTS BALONEY

It was funny and I have spoken of this before several times but I used to worship CustomPC Magazine!

Not anymore as they have become one sided and biased and suddenly do not look too sure that they know what they are talking about or reporting on. As I have touched upon before they have also, like that JML character, lambasted AMD and it's CPUs and the company or its products hardly get a mention or recommendation.

Well ONE does and has done regularly for awhile now and that would be one of the AMD APUs with the integrated GPU.

Now what I am about to tell you that I read in the magazine I could not quite believe I was reading it and my initial thoughts were 'You bloody idiots!'

It seems they felt obliged to make comments about AMD and because of the fact that despite them being a PC enthusiast magazine and talking up Intel CPUs for many, many months now they may feel a little embarrassed that the three big companies of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all disagreed with them and all voted to use upcoming, UPCOMING, AMD APUs for their games machines.

But what got my attention and I have retained in my memory since I saw it is the sentence they included that stated how under-powered these machines will be and that many people have far more power in their PCs already?!

I simply could NOT believe that they stated this line and then went to print with it?! I should really go and view the article on their site and see if they are being lambasted for printing it?

Reasons being that, and I have covered before hand, these machines are going to be having games far more graphics intensive than their previous machines. END OF! They are not going to release machines less powerful then the previous one, the same power or even slightly more powerful as they will NOT sell in this climate and that is the end of it. Simple as in other words.

Now they obviously have learnt and know something about the chip they are using that we are simply not privy to as yet and this much should be glaringly obvious. Also this new chip will be 8 cores but as I understand it only one graphics unit. I have repeatedly spoken about this and I seem to be the only one that finds this arrangement extremely odd. I stated that I thought as there were going to be no less that 8, EIGHT, of these AMD Jaguar Cores that there must be TWO GPU chips too. Unless it is a custom made chip that will just house the 8 CPU Jaguar Cores and just ONE GPU.

But there was one other aspect of these new console chips that I had not considered or likely not aware of at the time and that is this heterogeneous memory access that will be included in the new chips. This allows both halves of the APU to access the same memory. SO in theory then we can imagine that some of the Jaguar cores can then take on elements of a game and produce what the software needs immediately with no lag or waiting?! This is rumoured to increase the speed of the APUs somewhat. Added to this we know little else about these CPU cores or the actual GPU cores that will be used or the levels of customisation that ill be included.

Yes everyone like to use big numbers to show at you with the word FLOPS but as many are increasingly finding this is losing its...lustre. Now for why and exactly why CustomPC Magazine should not have said that and have shown to be true what I noticed about them for quite sometime now and that they have obviously been given some incentive to champion Intel chips.

The problem they have is many fold and one of these is that it is very possible that come the launch, or even prior to launch, the new games to be showcasing the new machines may LOOK like the NEXT GENERATION of games. Simply because going by their statement in CustomPC Magazine ... well they simply will not?! Someone with a Geforce TITAN Graphics card will be playing games that look FAR BETTER than anything on the next generation consoles?! OOPS!

No what I have expected to happen all along is for everyone owning a PC Gaming rig who has paid out £400 to £950 for a graphics card as going to feel stupid and not to mention CHEATED?! After all someone will be able to build a PC around the time the consoles come out and get an all in one CPU and GPU that is very similar in performance to the consoles and the chip will cost around £100 or so?!

So just to make a glaringly obvious comparison here someone has recently set up a gaming PC with a Intel Core i7 with 6 CPU Cores and 2 extra they lasered off because they do not want you to have them yet and a Geforce Titan. For the Intel chip this is likely to be around £600 and maybe more for a chip they INTENTIONALLY crippled. You have also paid £800 for a graphics card that you now realise has been vastly underused and that all the games are just NOT programmed well enough on the PC. You have paid up to

£1,500 on just TWO items and minus anything else on a PC that will finish up being over £3,000 so that it plays games the programmers and companies could not be bothered to rewrite for your hardware?!

With AMD you can now build a next generation PC gaming rig for a little over a tenth of what you just paid out?! That plays the next generation games?!

To think that people actually buy these overpriced components and build these rigs and avoid AMD and see them as inferior and close to death. They all go on-line taking the absolute piss out of AMD and their chips but all thee of the big boys that dictate what games are played have now all chosen AMD?!

AMD did struggle and had some very unfair things stated about it and if it is struggling and was not selling chips we have to ask ourselves why this is? Well would that not be down to the one magazine dedicated to building PCs that only seem to think that their is ONE x86 CPU manufacturer in the world?

Now if this is the case and they have been DELIBERATELY IGNORING AMD as much as possible one HAS to wonder WHY this is?! Intel by any chance?!

Like much of my corruption blog it just seems to be a level on control and manipulation because a bunch of people believe the hype and falsifications that go on.

I would lave to have been in the building at AMD after sealing the contracts to actually supply the chips?! They must have all been grinning like Cheshire cats at all the people that were biased and/or bought off by Intel to avoid them. SO much so that now they feel they have to make statements of a U-Turn nature that STILL contain glaring errors?!

God knows what was in the rest of the report, I read that line, laughed out loud literally and put the magazine back on the shelf in Sainsburys. I then continued laughing as I walked away with a big grin on my face thinking that the second half of 2013 is going to be VERYYYY INTERSTINNNNG and in more ways than ONE?!

Hmm maybe that guy going round trashing AMD who goes by JML something or other is the secret owner of CustomPC or Bit-Tech or whoever is now in charge over there?!

LMAO!

INTEL PROFITS ON BIG FALL

I was waiting for this one.

Waiting quite awhile as I knew the tide was turning and on top of this the announcement of the consoles and the CPU being used would make this fall greater still.

You see I was sure that many would realise what the implication of this would be. If I am correct then I think that later in the year there will be another announcement that contradicts what they state on this report.

You see they blame people moving seat from traditional computers. But what I think will happen, our technically IS happening, is that later in the year when the AMD desktop chips all come out  CPU AND GPU, that closely resemble what the consoles are using will sell like 'hot cakes'?! This will be the jaguar and steamroller core based CPUs which I think are going to give a nice and pleasant surprise when it comes to performance?!

The noises and decision making coming from all the companies seen to suggest that the forthcoming chips are more than up to the job. More in next post.

That is my prediction at any rate and I should be right there building my own rig and capturing it on video and posting out on?!

That IS the plan, lol.

Did not expect IBM to have a fall though but out of hard times.

THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD

Well I thought I would just post here about my feelings for Ubuntu and haw they have changed since those first few frustrating and failed attempts to dual boot.

Yes it is bloody annoying that you should, 15 years on, be able to achieve that very easily. Yes it appears you get a Ubuntu dual boot menu when you only used to get a Windows one. Yes this SHOULD mean it would NOT matter which order you installed them but something tells me otherwise.

The truth is the more I use Ubuntu the more I like it. Yes every now and then I think of something I would want to do in Windows and look up the Linux equivalent. Yes GIMP is driving me nuts and is really badly designed interface and not intuitive at all that is despite the fact I DO like it and am aware it is powerful.

The truth is that now it is running it is painless and no more locks ups occur and yes i STILL have not got the ATI drivers installed but unless Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Need for Speed appear on Linux I will not really care much.

Also the and truth is that in Linux, or Ubuntu, if something goes wrong with it I can have it up and running again in a matter of minutes, an Open Source and FREE Operating System?!

This is despite my love of the Windows 7 interface and being by far the BEST version of Windows EVER released EVER, yes it is the 25th March 2013 and I AM AWARE Windows 8 is out and I call it Windows H8!

The odd thing is my stab at the Linux lot recently is closer to the truth than I first realised?! I will reiterate...

This is good...very good. There is only a couple of things to work on and one is kicking AMD's butt! The other is some tinkering with the GUI. The last and most important is probably out of their hands and that is that Linux is supported by the gaming community...

It does not have to be many just, say, three of the big players would be enough to start a tidal wave of adoptions to Linux. For me if I could have the games I play the most on here (Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Need for Speed, X Reunion, Flaming Cliffs 3 Oh OK I have not got that last one...YET)

Now I am an old veteran at this but have been out of it awhile. So you could argue that I am a beginner when I started this but am an old veteran when it comes to seeing it through?!

I was unfamiliar for the most part with Ubuntu and knew my way around Windows and yet out of these TWO Windows has been a bloody headache. I chose my C: drive as the swap folder when I installed Ubuntu. This now looks like a mistake and I seem to lose my Windows installation after that, though it appeared to be there.

Other than that Windows seems to have an insistence, by all accounts, on throwing its toys out of the pram if it is not on the C: drive?! Umm STUPID! Hmm I wonder if the £2,000 Windows Server edition, or whatever its cost these days, has this issue? STUPID!!

So out of Ubuntu overwriting some Windows files or Windows just refusing to plaay fair, despite the humongous cost compared to Linux, lol, Ubuntu has been far easier to work with and this is BACK TO FRONT!!!

This realisation has been an utter shock to me, it really has and likely why and over time I kept putting it back on my laptop...BECAUSE I CAN?! When i finally got Windows 7 on my laptop my games and files had GONE and it would not connect to the Internet?! Ubuntu fecking did this from the DVD BOOTING?!?!

Result? Windows can feck off!!

The very meaning of an Operating System is so that you can Operate your .... SYSTEM!! Instead Steve Ballmer sees it as an excuse to meddle and feck about with users to sweep up any loose change his customers till possess! Nice. It does not matter that we may lose vital, important or sentimental files in the process they will continue to change things so that they can TIE you down to them and put up brick walls to everyone else.

To be honest they have been at that a very long time and probably the reason Bill Gates walked away from Microsoft. That was my immediate feeling when there was talk of him walking and still my feeling today.

It seems that military tactic to dominate everything and destroy all others many are under the impression that this is how it works in business. I have known for sometime that it is not...

The trouble with war is that you build bigger weapons that the other guy until one day you both have the weapons to annihilate each other so no one can win...

...what has happened in the world today is that businesses have been so focused and destroying their enemies and contempt for their own customers that the customer base is now saying FECK YOU!! In other words no one wins!

Ooh but wait! Linux is free and a very decent PC can be built for reasonable money today!! The last time I built a rig it was an SLI Rig with 2 x Gigabyte GEFORCE 6800GT cards Denovo Keyboard Proper Laser Mouse, Lacie Monitor Raptor RAID 0 drives the complete works and at £3,500 a steal?! *Cough-cough* Yes OK I went a bit mental and it was not the first time and was not the last and I dare say I will do again one day.

That was one of the first SLI systems built in the UK and it was something like 8 weeks before Custom PC Magazine (an good and unbiased magazine back then before Bit-Tech infiltrated) did an feature on it.

When I think of what I could build today for under £1,000 it boggles my mind. My eyes water and I am chomping at the bit.

The odd thing is I can look at Geforce 660 cards and Radeon HD7790 and HD7850 and think no?! I want a Radeon HD7970 or a Geforce 680. Seem a bit much? Well actually I am the kind of person that would have, 5 years ago, said 2x 690s or 2x7990s?! I kind you not! I was originally thinking or RAID 0 SSDs for my next rig?!

When I think about all this technology and how people make statements like SSD Raid 0 not worth it as it is temperamental I cannot think why. How can it be that nearly ten years on RAID 0 is even harder to do than when I FIRST did it?! Someone at Scan (www.scan.co.uk) told me that!

Or is it just Microsoft and Windows?

I stated not long ago that Linux has a perfect opportunity and that was because I was angry with Microsoft. Angry as they had RADICALLY changed the next iteration of Windows that only served to show that they cared not for their end users and only after the money trail! What is more is it is not even FINISHED!!

Even more bizarre was a guy locally I know who makes his money working on people's PCs told me on the phone that he has played around with Windows 8 and that it was FANTASTIC and far better than Windows 7?!

Jerry you was obviously very pissed, mate?! Exactly which bit was you on about? How if you have not got a touch screen monitor the tiles things is crap and a wast of space? Or that you do and most of the programs, software and apps are NOT designed for touch screen?! Did you take a payment from M$ to say that?!

No it was a rush to get it out because of the tablet market and that is what it was for, it should NEVER have been released for the PC at all in my opinion. Also I buy Micro Mart Magazine a week ago as it refers to another release called Windows Blue?! Oh but guess what...I see the word 'tablet' amongst the first couple of lines of text and I flick straight over the page!

Anyone else notice that they are WAY over-priced for what you get?! Tablets I mean?!

I hate the Intel Ultrabook idea and thnk they are way over-priced but forced between Ultrabooks and Tablets it would be Ultrabooks all day long...

...but you have SLEEKBOOKS now! An AMD CPU that has a powerful graphics chip built into it than can play the latest games at fairly good resolutions! In just two months the AMD CPU, sorry APU, code named Richland will be released and this will be more powerful still! This will be called the AMD A10-6800K for the top of the line desktop model and AMD A10-6700 or 6500 for the laptop model.

Now the AMD A10-6800K sound like the perfect tool to match up with a Linux PC!! If AMD get their thumbs out of their proverbial arses that is?!

Low cost, all in one CPU/GPU that uses less power and added to this the talk that the GCN graphics core to be placed in the new generation can do regular computational tasks which offsets the fact that the CPU side only has FOUR CORES?!

Or there is the mouth watering prospect that IF the get around to a die shrink you can have an 8 core APU?!?!

Or better still a motherboard with a twin FM2 socket so 8 cores and Crossfire GCN?!?!

Then there are the improved Piledriver cores and the Steamroller cores?! Oh and Jaguar?! Oh and likely GCN2?!?!?!?!

...

What?! Where am I?! ....Oh yeah I was typing out a post about...

What?! Where am I?! Who are you?!

LMAO!

Seriously though and later in 2013 and into early 2014 it is, or at least I bloody hope it is, going to be quite interesting and VERY EXCITING?!?!

If a twin socket FM2 is EVER releases i will but it, or bloody hope to, IMMEDIATELY!!

Back to the point and the conclusion...

...never ever in the history of Linux OSs have they EVER been able to see the whites of M$ eyes before!! Now I am going to suggest and likely put in place a couple of Ubuntu installations on computers belonging to friends.

Now let us see if it catches on?!

RETURN OF AMD & THEIR FX & CRYSIS 3 IT SEEMS

Well, well, well!

I am now reading very different things about gaming on AMD FX CPUS and even reading good things about the AMD FX-8350 based on Piledriver?!

So it seems this sudden complaining about Steamroller not coming out until 2014, complaining about AMDs demise and the fact that nVidia allowed SLI to be setup on AMD mobos and you can see all the ingredients actually cooked something up?!

It is funny as I did actually think this so was suprised somewhat when it did not seem to materialise. I then realized that there must be something up with the coding with both games and these benchmarks. This become really obvious when some came out with the AMD CPUs racing away with certain things....

...sorry all you idiots that liked to complain and laugh but if a Processor is CRAP then it is CRAP. It is not extremely good at a few things and then crap at the others unless something else comes into play.

Also you were banging on, supposed to be gamers, about a few FPS hits in games that were old or current or in other words you were going to see no bloody difference discernible by the human eye. Oh big WHOOP! I, on the other hand, did try to tell many n different forums that it is about what happens with the next generation of games and not that your mate has an FPS that shows ten less more than your 250! LMAO!

I must admit I did not even foresee this despite what I said and I certainly did not expect to see it so soon!! Hehe. Apparently this has all come about, and I have not even read all the details yet, because of the release of none other than CRYSIS 3!! I kind you not! LOL!

The Frames Per Second in this game chews up and spits out all but the most expensive Intels. Now I am even reading of Intel fanboys now crying foul and crying out for the Intel CPUs to come down and to release a more powerful and PROPER EIGHT CORE CPU?! WAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HEHE!

Oh my god it is sooo funny! Especially when I was reading that Intel had some hardware issue with their Haswell CPU, in case its bad I did NOT design it despite having the same NAME!!

Yes Haswell as some isue or other and Intel basically told the partners and customers 'SUCK IT UP BIATCH!!'

Oh dear that was not nice. The sad thing is if the sizes of these two switched tomorrow the situation would be EXACTLY the same only the names would be switched.

So you see we need them BOTH to exist but with a more level playing field and out of the burning remnants of AMD's ashes they rise up swooping all consoles up in their path and now, unless your a complete moron, every gamer on the PC is going to now realise that ALL FUTURE GAMES WILL BE MUCH MORE OPTIMISED FOR BOTH AMD's CPUs and GPUs!!

This means that everyone who has gone out and bought a HIGH END INTEL PC GAMING RIG in the past year is going to be chewing their fingernails, soiling their underwear and eating the HUGE receipt for their rig! LMAO!

I am particularly glad that this has happened to the deserters that went over to the dark side but made lots of noise and stated inflammatory comments along the way. Oh and that IDIOT on YouTube that everyone thought funny. Now he just looks like a stupid chump! LMAO!

Maybe now we will NOT have a return to the debarcle of what went on recently and in future idiots without any patience whatsoever will just keep any thoughts to themselves.

Oooh I just had a thought?!?!?!?

Custom PC Magazine?! AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh my god are they going to have to eat humble pie?!?!

A magazine dedictated to the building of gaming rigs whereby in the past coupe of years, as I have OFTEN complained about, AMD barely got a mention and they have gone on about Intel CPUs for gaming rigs?!

Oooh dear, I wonder how many letters and emails they are going to get from people who have laid out a few grand?!

Hmm come to think of it I wonder how many other morons that will realise they look like morons on the Internet are now racing around all the forums to try and delete any comments they previously made?! LMAO!

I fact I know of at least one guy who took great pleasure in going around many sites running down AMD ans stating they would go bust this year and how rubbish their processors are?!

Ohh go it is not fair, I am soo busy over the next week and yet I want to read the backlash that will no doubt go on for the next few months, lol.

BIASED MAGAZINES CUSTOM PC & MAXIMUM PC

Well I was just reading the comments on an articcle about the GeForce Titan after seeing The Tech Source TV channel.

Only I was not checkng all the numbers when I noticed that the magazine that did the article I was reading got lambasted for being biased towards NVIDIA?!

Then I remebered looking in the last Custom PC Magazine that did an article on building a Gaming RIG for £389, as stated on the cover...

...only when you go to the article when they SUM UP there are in fact TWO machines. The AMD one was built using a APU, CPU and GPU on the same chip but there was another column about building another one using an Intel and NVIDIA which came to £520?!

Now why the hell would you do that and of course in recent Custom PC fashion the £520 Rig gets higher benchmarks.

BUT...

This Intel RIG is £130 MORE EXPENSIVE that the AMD one and that begs the question...

Why did they not then include another dedicated graphics card to the AMD RIG in Crossfire?!

Surely it would have made a better appeal to buying customers, err like ME, that for £500 or a bit over you can have a CROSSFIRE AMD Rig?!

Well I suppose it would put the Intel RIG in the shade?!

I did not read it all and as I always do I put the magazine back on the shelf in disgust...AGAIN. A magazine I normally walked out of the store with in my hands I hardly ever buy and have not done so in a very long time.

I also find it bloody hilarious as well as condemning towards their questionable judgement that they are a magazine that talks about gaming, with PC Gaming always in fear of evaporating away, lambasted AMD for their chips while praising Intel when you cannot see ANY discernable difference much in gaming between the two camps and on top of that, what happens now?

Both Sony and Microsoft now announce that their NEXT GENERATION GAMING CONSOLES will be ALL AMD?!

Uh-HUH?!

LMAO!

Now all thw moaning and whinging that has gone on amomngst gamers and all the wild claims that have been made...well what can I say?!

I laughed until I nearly soiled myself and wondered of all the fanboys, naysayers, biased gaming journalists and OBR Hardware are all now pooling their cash to buy an island in the pacific where they can go and hide from the limelight and the Internet?!

All i can say is if you now spend the rest of 2013 and 2014 being absolutely boiled and roasted by AMD fans...well I am afraid you stuck your heads in the proverbial nooses and how could you expect any different?!

Oh and the hype over Ultrabooks too?! They are crap in all honesty but no they are all 'ooh Ultrabook is the new BUZZWORD!' Yup buzzwaord for CRAP. ANy news of reviews about SLEEKBOOKS?!

Curiously NO!

HAHAHAHAHA!

So an 8 core APU in the AMD CPU code named Jaguar? Oh my god I hope so?!?!

That other PC Magazine and the article os Maximum PC but as I stated it is only what people were commenting on...

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/nvidia_geforce_titan_%E2%80%93_benchmarks2013?page=0,1
